There will be several categories scored at the Rampage 5. Some, if not all, of the categories will have at least the basics of the scoring system for that category posted here prior to the tournament as they become finalized. Be sure to check back for updates (emails will be sent to registered players regarding updates).

The following categories will be scored at Midwest Rampage 5 (Note: Further categories may be added and there may be some that will be a surprise at the tourney)

Scoring Methods

Gentleman Gamer Award

The Gentleman Gamer Award is a unique award. As everyone who has attended in the past, the Rampage prizes Sportsmanship and Gentlemanly competition above winning games. To better reflect this, the Best Sportsman Award has been slightly expanded to include a couple of other facets of play and is now be the Gentleman Gamer Award. This will be scored on the combined Total Sportsmanship Score, Comp Score and Gentleman Gamer Points.

Gentleman Gamer Points are scored by:

Paying by the May 1st Deadline (5 points)

Army List in by May 1st Deadline and no changes made after (5 points)

At table on time for the start of a Round (1 point per Round, 5 points total)

Score sheet turned in no later than 10 minutes after Final Time is called for the Round (1 point per Round, 5 points total)

There are a total of 20 Gentleman Gamer Points available to be earned.

Best General

A good general is not always the one who wins all of the individual battles...but he is the one who seizes the objectives required to ensure victory in the long term. To reflect this view of good generalship, the Best General award at the Midwest Rampage will be scored using the system described below.

Table Objectives:

On each table, in addition to the normal scenery will be two objective markers. The markers represent a person/item/bit of intelligence that can be captured and taken by a unit. The markers are to be placed before deployment. Each marker is placed by one player. The player places the marker on the opponents side of the table and rolls a scatter die and 2d6 and places the marker at the designated location. The other player repeats the procedure with the second marker. If a scatter result places the marker off the board, the marker is instead moved the distance on the dice in the opposite direction of the scatter arrow.

Taking Table Objectives:

The Objectives may be picked up by any unit with US 5 or higher and move with that unit. This unit may not be a Character, Monster, War Machine or Flyer. If the unit carrying the objective is destroyed by ranged attacks, the objective is placed where the center of the front rank was. If the unit carrying the objective is destroyed in Close Combat, or run down after breaking from Close Combat, the destroying enemy unit takes the objective. In the case of more than one enemy unit being involved, the enemy player chooses the unit to take possession.

An Objective MUST be possessed by a unit at the end of the game in order to be claimed. Otherwise the Objective was lost in the chaos of the battle and neither side may claim it.

Each Table Objective is worth 1 Best General Point.[Max 2 per Game]

Battle Objectives:

  1. Destroy more than 60% (1350) of your opponents army while losing less than 30% (625) or your own force.
  2. Hold at least two table quarters and contest or control the remaining two.

Each Battle Objective is worth 1 Best General Point.[Max 2 per Game]

If a player achieves all four Table & Battle Objectives in a single game they recieve 1 bonus Best General Point.

Terrain Objectives:

Certain pieces of terrain (Hills, Buildings, and Woods) are defined as Scoring Terrain. Scoring Terrain is controlled in the same manner as controlling a Special Feature (WFB Rules, Pg 100).

The player controlling more pieces of Scoring Terrain than his opponent receives 1 Best General Point.

Battle Scoring:

Each player receives the points list for the outcome of each battle:

  • Win while scoring at least one Best General Objective Point - 5 points
  • Draw while scoring at least one Best General Objective Point - 3 points
  • Loss while scoring at least one Best General Objective Point - 1 point

Total Best General Points Available: 55

Best General Award is: Best General Points (55 possible) + Comp Score (50 Possible) + Player Comp (5 possible) (Max Possible Best General Score: 110 Points.

Best General points have no effect on overall score.

Army Composition

Player Scored Army Comp is a simple Pass/Fail for a +1/-1 point per game. This will be on the Post Game Scoresheets.

Organizer Scored Comp is back at the MWR 5. The WPS Comp Scoring System will be used. The WPS System gives a rating of 0-30. The Rampage is modifying this slightly. WPS points will be capped at 25. Players may build lists that score a 26-30 on WPS but this will only garner a max of 25. The WPS Score X2 gives the actual Comp Score of 0-50.

The WPS Comp System may be downloaded HERE.

PLEASE IGNORE THE NOTE IN THE WPS PDF REGARDING THE REQUIREMENT FOR A 14 COMP. THAT IS NOT IN EFFECT FOR THE MWR. YOU SHOULD BRING AN ARMY THAT IS IN THE SPIRIT OF THE MWR (YOU ALL SHOULD KNOW WHAT THAT IS BY THIS POINT!!) AND DOES NOT SCORE BELOW A ZERO ON WPS.

Comp Differential - Be aware that Battle Points are awarded on a sliding scale based on the base WPS score of 0-25.

In an attempt to have opponents with similarly scoring armies facing each other, pairings for Round 1 will be determined by WPS. Pairings for Round 2 & 3 will be based on both Battle Points and WPS Score.

Pairings for Rounds 4 & 5 will be based solely on Battle Points.
